Faux Food Creation
ARTIST INSTRUCTOR: MICHELLE JAMIESON
SEPTEMBER 22 - 23, 2018
Have a delectable time creating tasty looking inedible treats, dinners and hors d’oeuvres in this two-day intensive class. Create a multitude of fake foods that will trick any connoisseur into taking a bite. (We don’t recommend that!) Stratford Festival Prop Maker Michelle Jamieson will guide you through the process of fashioning many different faux courses from idea to presentation.
In this course students will learn and expand on the following skills:
Sculpt, decorate and paint to create a braised cooked fowl for a succulent evening dinner.
Create several treats, sweets, cupcakes and cakes with icing.
Get recipes on how to create more delicious looking food with different paint and finishing techniques.
Plate your faux food effectively to create multiple looks, time periods and status.
Discover different materials to create faux food - from dollar-store items to sculpting materials.
The low student-to-teacher ratio in each course ensures instruction is geared to a participant’s skill level and experience. Please indicate your related experience when you register.
The course fee covers the cost of basic materials; however, participants have the opportunity to work on personal projects. Depending on the complexity of those projects, additional costs for materials may be incurred and are the responsibility of the student.
