About the Artist
Georgia Steel is a multidisciplinary freelance artist specializing in Face and Body Art/Painting for the Special Events Industry. She is a pioneer in the face and body painting world, and has owned and run her own company, Picasso Painters, for over 30 years. Now based in Stratford, Picasso Painters operates extensively in Toronto and throughout southwestern Ontario. In this arts-based business, she, and her daughter Saturn, book over 20 in-house artists along with a large talent roster of event artists and performers. Georgia is mainly self-taught, but has studied visual art, makeup, music and performance with many entities over the years, including Humber College, Yorkville School of Makeup and Esthetics, and the renowned Jack Medhurst Studio. Her company was the ‘in house’ face painting company at Ontario Place from 1996-2002; today her event clients include: The Toronto Blue Jays, Cirque Du Soleil, NYX Cosmetics, Holt Renfrew, Cadillac Fairview, The Liberty Group, and literally 100’s more every year. Georgia teaches workshops and classes in both makeup and visual art, and is currently working on a show of her painted works.
