Puppet Building & Puppetry

Dates: October 30/31, 2021
During this intensive, two-day introductory workshop, participants will gain an understanding of the
construction and basic performance of soft foam mouth puppets.
Adults 16+ of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome at this workshop. No prior experience is required, though hand-sewing abilities are an asset. All materials will be supplied.
Participants will make their own puppets and learn and expand on the following skills:

Explore the different types and styles of puppets;

Discuss character design;
-
Learn flat foam patterning;
-
Discover methods of construction, with lots of tips and tricks;

Master the art of fabric draping;
-
Practice decoration and design techniques to complete your puppet;

Discuss different needs of film and stage puppets;
-
Learn basic puppetry performance, so you know how to get started with your new puppet;
-
Observe the effectiveness of subtle puppet moves to provide expression.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Under guidance from Huron Perth Public Health,
Off the Wall is requiring proof of vaccination for all students attending this course.
